You’ll need    

Scheepjes, Colour Crafter Velvet (100% acrylic, 100g/ 300m)
6 skeins Kelly / Black
1 skein of each color; Garland, Grant, Chaplin, Crawford, Gable, Martin, Gardner, Astaire, Bogart, Leigh

Crochet hook  4mm
Tapestry needle

Tension 17 tr – 10 rows  = 10 – 10 cm using 4 mm hook or size to obtain correct tension.

Measurements  145 x 180 cm

Used stitches and terms (UK);
beg – beginning
ch – chain
ch2-space – chain 3 space
tr – treble
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
standing tr – standing treble
dtr – double treble

Standing tr

Start with the blocks;

Chain 6, join with sl st to form a ring
Round 1; ch 3, tr 15 in ring, join with sl st to the top of beg ch-3
Round 2; ch 5, [tr on next tr, ch 2] 15 times, join with sl st to third of beg ch-5, cut thread
Round 3; Make standing tr in any ch2-space, tr 2 in same ch2-space, [ch 1, tr 3 in next ch2-space] 15 times, ch1, sl st on top of standing dc, cut thread

Around each block you add three rows with Kelly / Black;

Row 4; make a standing dc on a ch1-space, *[ch 3, dc on next ch1-space] 3 times, ch 6, dc on next ch1-space, repeat from * 2 more times, [ch 3, dc on next ch1-space] 3 times, ch 3, tr on standing dc
Row 5; ch 3, tr 4 around last made tr from row before, *[tr 3 on ch3-space] three times, [tr 5, ch 2, tr 5 on ch6-space], repeat from * 2 more times, [tr 3 on ch3-space] three times, tr 5 on ch3-space, ch 1, dc on top of beg ch-3
Row 6; Ch 4, tr around last made dc of row below, tr on third of beg ch-3 of row below, tr on each of next 18 tr, *[tr, dtr, tr] on ch2-space, tr on each of next 19 tr, repeat from * 2 more times, tr on ch1-space, sl st to the top of beg ch-4, cut thread, but leave a tale to sew
the blocks together, about 20”

Sew 10 blocks together with black / Kelly in the order as shown in table on page 2.

Now crochet along a long side also with black / Kelly a row of dc, make in each tr a dc, turn! (= 221 dc)

Next row; With color Garland / Orange, make a standing tr in the first dc, tr in each of the next dc (= 221 tr)
Repeat this row of tr’s in this order, Grant / Purple, Chaplin / Green, Crawford / Beige, Gable / Pink, Martin / Lilac, Gardner / Brown, Astaire / Yellow, Leigh / Blue, Bogard / Red.  (= 10 colored rows)
Turn after each row!
and finish this strip with an row of dc’s in Black / Kelly 

Make this strip 5 more times, starting from ****************************************
You’ll have 10 blocks left. These will be added at the end. Sew the 6 strips together.

Finally add one more strip with just the 10 blocks!

Make sure all the colors are lined up the same way!

Border;
Start on a short side on the 4^th tr from the corner (dtr) and make a standing dc with Kelly / black. dc 1 in each of the next tr (18 tr), *dc 1 on the joined 2 dtr, dc 1 on each of the next tr*, repeat from * until the next corner. On the corner (dtr) you crochet 3 dc. Place a marker on the middle dc. Rotate your blanket 90 degrees.
*dc on each of the next 21 tr, dc 1 on the black row of dc’s, dc 2 in each of the next 10 colored stripes (= 20 dc), dc 1 on the black row of dc’s*, repeat from * 5 more times, dc on each of the next 21 tr, dc 3 on the corner (dtr), place marker on the middle of the 3 dc’s, rotate blanket 90 degrees. dc on each of the next tr and 1 dc on the joined 2 dtr between the blocks until the next corner. dc 3 on the corner (dtr), *dc on each of the next 21 sc, dc 1 on the black row of dc’s, dc 2 in each of the next 10 colored stripes (= 20 dc), dc 1 on the black row of dc’s*, repeat from * 5 more times, dc on each of the next 21 tr, dc 3 on the corner (dtr), place marker on the middle of the 3 dc’s, rotate blanket 90 degrees. dc 1 in each of the next 3 tr. Break yarn.
(= 1008 dc total)

Turn blanket!
Make a standing dc with Garland / Orange. Start anywhere you want. dc 1 on each of the next dc, to the corners where you dc 3, repeat around, end with a sl st in the standing dc.
Switch each row to the next color (Grant / Purple, Chaplin / Green, Crawford / Beige, Gable / Pink, Martin / Lilac, Gardner / Brown, Astaire / Yellow, Leigh / Blue, Bogard / Red)
and turn the blanket after each row!!!!!

Now your blanket is ready, weave in ends and block to measurements!

I promised a sneak peek last week, so here you go. When you take a good look, I'm sure you can see what I'm going to make. Did you guess?

Colour Crafter New colours

The ColourCrafter from Scheepjes has 30 new colours. Aren’t they great? I went straight to work with some of those colors.

De Colour Crafter van Scheepjes heeft er 30 nieuwe kleuren bij gekregen. Zijn ze niet geweldig? Ik ben gelijk aan de slag gegaan met een aantal hiervan.

First I made a shawl from Atty from Atty’s. The Candy shawl. The great thing about this shawl, is that you hardly have to weave in ends. It isn’t my favorite thing to do. They all get included with the fringe. Just perfect.

Ik heb eerst een shawl van Atty van Atty’s gemaakt. DeSnoepjes shawl. Wat zo geweldig van dit patroon is, is dat je bijna geen draadjes weg hoeft te stoppen. En aangezien dat niet mijn favoriete bezigheid is. Ze worden allemaal fijn mee genomen in de franje.

Next I used another beautiful pattern. This one is from Annelies from Vicarno. It is a gorgeous lace ruffled shawl. This one has also a great name and goes by ‘It’s aSunny Day shawl’.

Toen ben ik aan de slag gegaan met alweer een prachtig patroon. Deze keer van Annelies van Vicarno. Het is een mooie kanten omslagdoek met een ruffle rand. Deze gaat door het leven als de ‘het is een zonnige dag shawl’

Yarn; Scheepjes; Colour crafter Velvet

5 skeins Kelly

1 skein each; Astaire, Monroe, Taylor, Bogart, Hepburn, Rogers and Dean

Crochet hook; 4 mm / G

Size after blocking approx; 42" - 68" / 105 - 170 cm

Used stitches;

 

Start making the middle flowers. Later you connect them all.

Make of; 

1. Astaire     27 flowers

2. Monroe    32 flowers

3. Taylor      32 flowers

4. Bogart     30 flowers

5. Hepburn  28 flowers

6. Rogers    30 flowers

Weave in all the ends. Then you can start connecting them all.

Start with a flower in the color Astaire and add a 5th row with the color Kelly, by;

Cast on thread on a 2ch-space above the tr5tog.

Row 5; ch3, tr2 on ch2-space, * [tr3, ch2, tr3] on next ch3-space, tr3 on next ch2-space*, repeat from * to * 4 more times, [tr3, ch2, tr3] on next ch3-space, slst in third of ch3

Then take 6 flowers in the color Monroe. Crochet Row 5, but now you connect them around the Astaire flower (see image 1 and chart 3), by

Row 5; cast on thread and ch3, tr2 on ch2-space, [tr3, ch1, slst in flower 1, ch1, tr3] on next ch3-space, [tr2, slst in flower 1, tr1] on next ch2-space, [tr3, ch1, slst in flower 1, ch1, tr3] on next ch3-space, *tr3, on next ch2-space, [tr3, ch2, tr3] on next ch3-space*, repeat from * to * 3 more times, slst in third of ch3

Flower 3 is connected by 3 sides

Keep adding the flowers like shown in chart 4

Weave in all the ends, if you haven't done so after each added row. Block the blanket and then it is ready to use. I hope you enjoyed making it.

Mozaik Blanket

Here it is, my first blanket. Made of the beautiful yarn from Scheepjes, Colour Crafter Velvet. The first time I finished something all made of motifs. I'm so happy to have a great mom who weaved in all the ends for me. It's seems that some people find it relaxing. Not me, but I'm very happy with the this blanket. 

Hier is hij dan, mijn eerste deken. Gemaakt van het mooie garen van Scheepjes, Colour Crafter Velvet. De eerste keer dat ik iets heb gemaakt van allemaal motieven. Ik heb het geluk dat ik een lieve moeder heb, die heel ijverig alle draadjes voor me weg heeft gestopt. Het schijnt dat sommige mensen het ontspannend vinden om te doen. Ik helaas niet, maar toch ben ik erg blij met de deze deken.

Velvet Hexagons

Since it's been a week ago, here's the first glimpse of what I'm making of the yarn Velvet from Scheepjes. It is so soft and a joy to crochet. I'm crocheting motifs of all 7 available colors and I connect them with black. The motifs are hexagons.

Sinds het alweer een week geleden is, is hier dan de eerste glimp van wat ik maak van het fjne garen Velvet van Scheepjes. Het is zo zacht en een genot om mee te haken. Ik ben dus motieven aan het haken van alee 7 kleurtjes die beschikbaar zijn en ik verbind ze allemaal met zwart. De motieven zijn hexagons.  

Next week I'll show what I make of all these connected hexagons. Can you wait that long? 

Volgende week laat ik zien wat ik met al deze hexagons maak. Kun je zo lang wachten?

Velvet colour cafter

A while back Scheepjes came with the beautiful yarn 'Colour Crafter'. It's a beautiful yarn of 100% acrylic, with a silky touch.

This yarn is ideal for rugs and other home accessories, as well as clothing and amigurumi's.

Een tijdje terug bracht Scheepjes het garen 'Colour Crafter' op de markt. Het is een prachtig garen van 100% acryl, met een zijde zachte touch.

Dit garen is zeer geschikt voor dekens en andere woonaccessoires, maar ook voor kleding en amigurumi’s kan dit heel goed gebruikt worden.

Now they come with a sequel in the form of Colour Crafter Velvet. This supplement has 8 colors and is perfect to combine with the Colour Crafter. It has a vintage feel and the look of old and worn velvet. Each color is named after a Hollywood movie star, like Hepburn, Bogart or Monroe.

Nu komen ze met een vervolg daarop in de vorm van Colour Crafter Velvet. Deze aanvulling heeft 8 kleuren en is perfect te combineren met de Colour Crafter. Het is iets gemêleerd en heeft de uitstraling van oud versleten fluweel. Het doet denken aan de oude glamoureuze films en filmsterren van Hollywood. Elke kleur is daarom ook vernoemd naar een filmster van weleer.

I will use all eight colors for my next project. It's going to be something I have not made before, so pretty special with this beautiful yarn.

Ik ga alle 8 kleuren gebruiken voor mijn volgende project. Het word iets wat ik nog niet eerder heb gemaakt, dus best wel speciaal, met dit speciale garen.
